I am interested in a few different nursing specialties including pediatrics, OB, and working in the ER. Loving children is what sparks my interest in pediatrics, something I would like to learn more about in pediatrics is how to make the hospital a happy place for them even though they are going through tough times. For OB I am really interested in seeing the process from a woman’s pregnancy to giving birth and the miracle of life. I would like to learn more about how a women should take care of herself while pregnant. And finally, one thing that sparks my interest in the ER is the fact that you go to work every day and it will never be the same day to day. In the ER I would like to learn more about trauma and patient care in that manner.

My assumptions for EBP are doing research and EBP to complete several steps and then at the end combining it all into a formal paper. My assumptions come from previous classes that were about research. I believe that applying the knowledge that I learn in this class will be best done in the clinical setting, this is because as a nursing student if something is foreign to you, you should research it and/or ask your peers and leaders questions to help guide you through what you are doing. This learning will help me in the future because I will know where to go when I come across something I need to do some research on and/or if I am trying to figure out what practice is best for my patients.
