Prepare for Transition

Prepare for Transition

As graduation is right around the corner, I find myself experiencing many emotions and mixed feelings that are stirring. I am excited, nervous, scared, relieved, grateful and the list goes on. I think that I am most excited about finally being done with the school portion of nursing and moving onto the career I have been waiting for my entire life. I will celebrate the progress towards my goals and victories by taking time to provide self-care to myself throughout these next few months. I am most anxious about the fact that I do not know where I would like to work. That is the one question that people ask me and I am still not entirely sure. Even though graduation will be here before we all know it, it is still crucial to put my best effort into my studies from here until then. I plan on breaking the course load into each segment from exam to exam. Its only a handful of exams that we must make it through, and I plan to work my way one at a time. This helps me to focus on a couple of weeks at a time rather than the whole semester.

The first thing that I learned from one of the nurse logic 2.0 modules is that in order to be successful, you have to find which learning style works for you whether it is visually, auditory, tactile, etc. You also have to plan to be successful by sticking to a routine, using time management skill, and others. Secondly, the field of nursing does not happen without the interdisciplinary team and in the middle of the care is the patient. Being the advocate for you patient is all about using evidenced based research to educate them and keep them safe. Lastly, prepping for a test begins way sooner than most people think. It starts with participating in the lectures and knowing how to take good notes. And then it proceeds with what your study habits look like from there out and how often you are revisiting the material.
