Planning the Journey

Planning the Journey

I believe that this team project will be accomplished through teamwork and communication. My communication plan is to work face to face with my partner, we will set aside a day a week where we both have time to sit down and work on the assignment. I wouldn’t think any conflict would come around but if it does, I would just want to be honest and talk it out with my partner and see where we can improve as a…

Thinking About The Journey

Thinking About The Journey

I am interested in a few different nursing specialties including pediatrics, OB, and working in the ER. Loving children is what sparks my interest in pediatrics, something I would like to learn more about in pediatrics is how to make the hospital a happy place for them even though they are going through tough times. For OB I am really interested in seeing the process from a woman’s pregnancy to giving birth and the miracle of life. I would like…

Stigma Reflection

Stigma Reflection

I believe that there is so much stigma associated with mental illness due to one’s roots and socially stereotyping others. Mental illness is considered something bad or that people who have mental illnesses are crazy and/or scary, there are many other terms that can be associated with mental illnesses. People may also accuse those who claim to have a mental illness as faking, which I assume would be very hurtful to that person. A person who has a mental illness…

Experiential Learning Reflection

Experiential Learning Reflection

Jetport Activity, 9/18/21, Portland Jetport, 5 hours  Service-learning event “jetport activity”. The priority focus would be the collaboration and interprofessional work of those who would be responding to a big accident and how they would help everyone injured and their families. How I Made a Difference

How I Made a Difference

Emily Letellier Professor Blais, Professor Holt Adult Health 307 19, November 2021 How I Made a Difference I was touched by many patients this semester during clinical and I feel many of my patients would feel the same about student nurses being around. I feel that I made a difference in one of my patients specifically, one week she was my patient so I did a full assessment and the following week I was able to be a part of…

Medication Reconciliation Reflection

Medication Reconciliation Reflection

Throughout completing the medication reconciliation, there were a few safety concerns that I pointed out for each drug that my patient was on. Euthyrox and Aspirin, had a drug to drug interaction with beta blockers, which the patient is on two of. These interactions can decrease the antihypertensive effects of the beta blockers. Another huge safety concern for this patient is the increased risk of bleeding that comes with taking aspirin. These safety concerns were not related to the patients…

Module 3 & 4 Reflection

Module 3 & 4 Reflection

Module 3 Some new learning content in this module were strategies for success. Everyone is successful in different ways, and this states some ways of being successful. The three modules that I think are the most important are staying organized, planning for success, and maintain consistency. It doesn’t relate to content that we are learning but it is effective in how to juggle all our classes and extracurricular activities. This will influence my integration into the nursing culture by always…

Collaboration A

Collaboration A

There is a lot of value behind collaboration, especially in the healthcare field. Collaboration is important because it is not possible to care for a patient by yourself. Everybody is a piece to the puzzle and will bring different information and ideas to the table. With the help of everyone on the team, the patient will get the best care as possible.

Module 1&2 Reflection

Module 1&2 Reflection

Module 1 There was a lot in this module that I considered to be new learning. Some of those things were how to prepare for a different format of an exam and all the components that would be included in the exam. Using different test taking strategies and putting your mind in the priority setting when answering these harder types of questions that are going to prepare us for the NCLEX. I think this relates to what we are learning…
